Tour Map

The Humantay Lake tour reaches over 4,200 meters above sea level. Getting there takes about 2 km on foot through mountain terrain, short but the altitude makes it harder than it sounds. Super Tour Machu Picchu handles everything needed for the day, managing all services throughout the experience.

The hike moves at a steady pace with a guide along the whole way. Physical effort is moderate, mostly because of the thin air, not the distance. Weather up there changes fast, open terrain with no shelter, so conditions shift without much warning and the environment stays exposed the whole time.

Time at the lake is limited and the area is open and natural. We follow the guide's instructions throughout and move freely within the designated area. Humantay is one of the more recognized natural spots near Cusco, worth it for the view.

We will pick you up between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. at your hotel in Cusco. We will travel to Mollepata for 2.5 hours (155 km). During the journey, we will have time to rest, and the guide will explain information about the region and the altitude. This leg of the trip will allow us to gradually acclimatize and prepare for the hike.

Upon arrival in Mollepata, we will enjoy a full breakfast at a local restaurant. Then, we will continue by vehicle for 1 hour to Soraypampa, located at 3,900 m. From this point, we will begin the ascent to Humantay Lagoon. The trail will be clear and safe, but will require moderate effort due to the altitude and the steep terrain.

During the hike, we will cover approximately 2 km in 1.5 to 2 hours, adjusting our pace according to the group. We will be able to observe the Andean landscape, snow-capped mountains, and unique rock formations. Upon reaching the lagoon, we will be at an altitude of 4,200 m and will have time to explore, take photographs, and appreciate the grandeur of the natural surroundings.

We will begin our descent along the same route for 1.5 hours, maintaining a safe pace. We will then stop in Mollepata for a buffet lunch before returning to Cusco. The return trip will take approximately 3 hours (155 km), arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m., thus concluding the experience in an organized and safe manner.
