The Uros Floating Slands Half Day takes us to the unique floating islands of Uros. We will explore the wimp islands and meet the friendly Uros community. The islands on Lake Titicaca offer a regard of life on the topmost passable lake in the world.
We’ll have the opportunity to walk among the totora reed meanwhile the people from Uros build boats. Then, we’ll take a short ride on this boat, called “Caballitos de Totora”. This experience will feel full of positive energy.
During the Uros Floating Islands Half Day, we will learn about the history of the Uros people. Our companion will partake stories of how the community has saved its culture for centuries. We'll explore original requests where the Uros sell handwrought crafts and monuments. Every corner of the islets tells a story of adaptability and creativity.
By the end of the stint, we will leave the Uros islets with indelible recollections. We'll carry stories of wimp houses, floating auditoriums , and life on the water. We'll protest in the morning at 9:00 A.M. with a hostel pick- up in Puno. The thoroughfares will still be sleepy as we drive toward the lake. We'll feel the crisp Andean air and get agitated for our half- day adventure. moment is each about culture, floating islets, and jaw- dropping lake views.
We'll reach the props of Lake Titicaca, the loftiest passable lake in the world at 3,810 metres. Stepping onto the Uros Floating islets, we will feel the soft totora doormats under our bases. As we wander around, we will see various homes, little auditoriums , and walkways all made from doormats. Our guide will share the clever tricks the Uros people use to keep these islands floating.
Next, we will meet the Uros locals and hang out with some friendly families. They will show us how they make reed boats and take care of their floating homes. We will hear cool stories about daily life, traditions, and the history behind these amazing islands. Everywhere we look, we will see photo opportunities, from vibrant homes to boats gliding across the lake.
We will watch a quick demo of how they build the reed boats. Then, we will have some free time to explore the main island. We can pop into a local home, check out handmade crafts, or try on traditional outfits for fun photos. If we want, we can also hop on a reed boat for a short ride to see the islands from the water.
By around 1:00 P.M., we will head back to the Puno pier. On the drive back, we will have time to soak in all the cool things we saw.
