Tour Overview

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour will visit the beautiful rainbow color mountains of Palccoyo. We shall depart early out of Cusco and make our way through the Andes. We will be surrounded by rolling hills and highland landscapes and small villages will be spotted on the way displaying traditional Andean life.

After reaching there, we will perform a light hike to the Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain observation point of 4,900 meters. Bright red, yellow and green layers will be showcased in the mountains. We are going to make frequent stops to take the best pictures and admire the unique andean  landscape. Each of the steps will enable us to enjoy the beauty of Andes in its entirety.

On the day trip, we shall enjoy phenomenal scenes of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Our guide will tell tales on the mountains, how they were formed, and the regional culture. We will have time to simply admire the fresh air in the mountain and admire the quiet environment.

Upon the increase, we will move back to the vehicle and make our way back to Cusco in the afternoon. On the way we shall get our final glimpses of the highlands. At the beginning of the evening, we will be back in Cusco, having had a memorable day on Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain.

The day will begin with a hotel pick up in Cusco at around 7:00-7:30 A.M. The southern journey passes through beautiful mountains. We would see and go through rolling hills, small  traditional Cusco towns, and mountainous landscapes as we unwind in the vehicle and prepare to begin the adventure.

We will stop at Cusipata at about 9: 00 A.M. to have breakfast. Hot drinks and fresh fruit will provide us with energy to hike, as well as local Andean foods. It is also a good opportunity to relax our legs and have a glimpse of local life prior to going to the trail.

We will get to Palccoyo after approximately 3.5 hours on the road. The booked tour lasts 1.5-2 hours, walking along light trails. We will be stunned by the multi-layered colorations of the mountains that are red, ochre, green, blue, and white. We will go through the Stone Forest, observe the views, take photos and possibly encounter some llamas and alpacas.

On the other hand, after the hiking, we will go back to Cusipata to take buffet lunch where we can have local food and vegetarian food. We will then drive back to Cusco after having had our meal and where the same beautiful valleys and mountains will be passed. We are expected to be there around 5:30 P.M., and we can drop-off at our hotel, airport or bus terminal in the event of necessity.
