Tour Overview
The Choquequirao Trek will take us to one of the more demanding and impressive trips in Peru. We’ll cover mountains, cliffs and the Apurímac Canyon. We will have the opportunity to interact with local people in villages and visit Inca sites.
On Choquequirao Tour 5D/4N we’ll see agricultural terraces that were used in the inca times, thousands years ago. The paths will go very high up, knowing this is important to prevent altitude sickness. The trouble will be rewarded with emotional panoramic views from mountains.
When we reach the Choquequirao remains, the atmosphere will make us feel like we're stepping into another world. Also we can visit the sundecks, forecourts and all gravestone structures while our stint companion is talking about the history of the Choquequirao remains.
The trip also takes us through cloudy timber, aqueducts, and wildlife spots along the way. We will drink plenitude of water, enjoy the fresh air, and just soak up the implausible terrain. Every step will show us why these trails have stayed so special for centuries.
By the end of the Choquequirao Trek, we will return to Cusco feeling proud and inspired. The Choquequirao Trek leaves unforgettable remembrances of mountains, Inca remains, and adventure. We'll carry stories of sundecks, gravestone structures, and stirring views for a continuance.
We'll start super beforehand at 4:00 A.M. from our accommodation in Cusco and hop into our private auto. The drive to Capuliyoc will show us stunning Andean geographies and small townlets along the way. We'll breathe in the fresh mountain air and get agitated for the adventure ahead.
Once we reach Capuliyoc, we will hit the trail for our first stretch to Chiquisca town. The hike will wind through hills, showing us streams, cloudy forests, and native shops. We'll stop to rest, take prints, and enjoy the views.
Lunch will be in Chiquisca, giving us time to recharge before heading toward Playa Rosalina. We'll continue hiking through gentle pitches and shadowed areas, soaking in the decor . Arriving at Playa Rosalina, we will set up our canopies, relax, and enjoy regale under the stars.
By night, we will be cozy in our sleeping bags, ready for the coming day’s adventure.
Day 1 Statistics:
- Distance cover: 12 km

Right after morning meal, start walking out from Playa Rosalina. One tough climb waits today - part of the hardest stretches on this journey. Upward all the time toward Santa Rosa, path cuts back and forth through thick green cover where tiny birds dart and chirp. Stops happen now and then just to drink water, also catch sight of rushing stream below.
After reaching Santa Rosa, a break comes first. Then onward up toward Marampata the path climbs. Green thickens along the way the higher we go, bringing fresher air and wide-open sightlines across the Apurímac Canyon. Once at Marampata, time slows for food and rest
Later on, once lunch is done, the trail carries us forward - two extra hours winding down into quieter land where the air seems slower. Closer now, the ground shifts underfoot, giving way to stillness that settles around like dust after wind. Our shelter waits ahead, tucked beside Choquequiraw, off the known paths. Tents go up without rush, heat rises from food served in bowls, bodies unwind by firelight - all of it held within nightfall before tomorrow's walk to ancient stones.

We'll take our time taking prints and enjoying the views of the Apurimac Canyon. The dry season makes the colors pop, showing the sundecks and mountains in inconceivable detail. We'll tromp through forecourts and retired corners, imagining life in Inca times.
Lunch will be back at the campground, giving us a chance to relax and sputter about the day’s discoveries. In the autumn, we will have free time to rest or for a little walking. Regale will be delicious, and we will prepare for the next long day..

After lunch, we will continue hiking to Chiquisca. Arriving there, we will set up canopies, relax, and enjoy regale together. As night settles in, sleep comes easily inside the thick sleeping bags. A soft calm wraps around us when darkness arrives.

Footsteps slow near Capuliyoc - time opens up for pictures, breath, stillness. After that stretch of quiet, descent begins, winding lower toward Cusco's edge. Midday food comes on a ridge where wind moves soft between bites. A vehicle waits later, ours alone, engine humming low as roads pull us into the sprawl.
