Tour Overview
The Colca Canyon Peru Tour will show us a huge flume, one of the deepest in the world. We’ll visit different Andean geographies from Arequipa and experience artistic traditions. This full day tour will highlight the best viewpoints and natural wonders in South America.
Our day will move through the Pampa Cañahuas national reserve, where Andean wildlife will appear in large open plains. We will learn about the region’s ecosystems and enjoy clear mountain scenery. This area will offer us a calm start before we continue toward the canyon.
The Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint will give us the opportunity to enjoy the famous flight of the condor. We'll watch the Andean condors rise with the morning air currents. This moment will come to be one of the strongest highlights of the Arequipa Colca Canyon Full Day experience.
We'll visit the city of Chivay and explore itspre-Inca sundecks and artistic atmosphere. Thermal cataracts and hot springs will be available as a comforting option. Original energy and vale views will produce an affable break before our return to the flume roads.
Our tour guide will share stories about ancient farming, canyon culture, and natural formations. We will continue through scenic viewpoints that show the vast scale of the Colca region. After a full day of landscapes and local life, we will return to Arequipa with a deeper connection to this powerful valley.
Our day will start at 03.00 A.M. with a hotell pick- up in Arequipa very early in the morning. The thoroughfares will feel quiet as we leave Arequipa City . Mountain outlines will appear as we drive through Yura. After many hours on the road and beautiful views, we will reach Chivay at 3,600 meters. A warm Andean breakfast will give us energy. Our companion will talk to us about stories of Colca Canyon.
The Cruz del Cóndor lookout will be our main thing this morning. Huge Andean condors will glide above the escarpments. The flume will drop further than 3,000 meters below us. We'll enjoy every moment of the condor show.
More viewpoints will follow as we visit Antahuilque and Choquetico. Pre-Inca terraces will cover the hillsides. Our guide will explain their irrigation systems and farming history. Short walks will help us enjoy every landscape angle.
Small Andean towns like Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque will appear next. We will explore plazas and visit old colonial churches. Locals will greet us with warm smiles. Local traditions will color every stop.
Thermal baths will offer a perfect break latterly in the morning. The water will stay near 38 °C and feel incredibly relaxing. After soaking, we will return to Chivay for lunch. Local dishes will keep us full and happy.
The road back to Arequipa will offer further decor . Patapampa at 4,910 meters will show volcanoes of Ampato, Sabancaya, and Hualca Hualca. Tocra wetland will bring llamas and wide open skies. Pampa Cañahuas will complete the route with alpacas and fast- moving vicuñas. We'll arrive in Arequipa around 5:00 P.M. with great recollections.
